The iPhone 8 Plus could double when charging

A Taiwanese owner of the iPhone 8 Plus has claimed that his device was opened while being loaded with the original charger and cable . The photos show significant damage, as the battery is completely swollen. At the same time, another Japanese owner has posted similar photos of his device, which he said came to this state.

The first affected device is being examined by Apple , the phone belongs to Mrs. Wu, who recently renewed her phone contract and bought a 64GB pink gold iPhone 8 Plus.

The problem came five days after buying the phone. Wu put his phone to charge, using the supplied cable and adapter. After three minutes, he reported seeing the bulge on the front panel , and finally getting up completely from the device.

According to multiple Taiwan outlets, the phone was later recovered by the company, and has since been sent to Apple for analysis. Some media reports describe it as an explosion, but there is no visible evidence of trademarks of burns , and would expect much more serious damage if this were the case.

The Japanese user tweeted photos of the damage to his device.

While any incident involving a new iPhone model is bound to attract the attention of the media, it is worth pointing out some things. Firstly, any device made by millions will include some faulty models. What is not normal is the problem they suffered last year the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 , something really dangerous.

Second, incident investigations usually reveal that a third-party uploader was used , even when an owner initially claims to have used the original supplied Apple.

Any device with a swollen battery should be immediately removed to a safe place, as there may be a risk of a bursting. And we return to the case of Note 7 .
