SwipyFolders New Shortcut Gestures to Home Screen Folder

SwipyFolders is a new jailbreak tweak by Cydia developer Jesse van der Velden which brings a set of new shortcut gestures to the Home screen folder for performing common tasks more quickly.
SwipyFolders introduces a set of five new shortcut gestures for folders which can be assigned to perform various tasks. These gestures include:
  • Single tap
  • Double tap
  • Swipe up
  • Short hold
  • 3D Touch
You can assign a specific action to each of these gestures. The tweak comes built in with four actions which include opening the selected folder, launching the first app, launching the second app or performing 3D Touch on the first app. You can assign  an individual action to any of the gestures that the tweak provides.
Once installed, you can get started by heading to the tweak’s preferences pane in Settings. The pane offers the following configurations:
  • Enable or disable the tweak
  • Set the first icon as the preview of the folder
  • Assign an action for Single tap, Swipe up, Double tap, Short hold and 3D Touch gesture.
If you enable the option for setting the first icon as the preview of the folder then all the folder icons on your Home screen will change to the icon of the first app that they contain. For instance, if one of the folders has Facetime as its first app then the folder icon will change to Facetime’s app icon. I personally don’t like this option as it makes it hard to differentiate between folders and apps on the Home screen.
The concept of SwipyFolders is interesting but I don’t see myself using it on a daily basis. However, if you think you’ll find it useful then you can grab the tweak for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Make sure to let us know what you think about it in the comments section.
