Universe2go, a very interesting concept

Universe2go, what is it? What is it good for? first thing to say is that Universe2go is nothing but a product that brings a very interesting concept, especially from the educational point of view, with the idea of knowing the universe. It is now fashionable AR (augmented reality its acronym in English), however, this product is not a concept that includes the AR but is rather a simulator.

We are rather to a simulator, a simulator of the universe. Universe2go really is a device that, along with an application available for Android or iOS, brings us very close to having a home planetarium experience. A portable planetarium with which to discover the secrets of the universe.

With this device and a smartphone with proper application and configured correctly we will have a planetarium in our own home with a few ways to use rather than complete to enjoy all the information. It is a new concept, a product that just hit the market and is seen as at least the application still has a long journey to make, especially given the feeling to end by having an interface somewhat rustic, at least IOS is the system that we tested the Universe2go. But everything changes as soon introduce the smartphone, in our case the iPhone, in the receptacle provided in Universe2go to house. This brings an adapter receptacle with precut foam made to adapt the space to the size of our smartphone. But look for a quick way what the Universe2go we liked and what is not.

What we liked the Universe2go

The finish is good physical device, made of a plastic that is not noted for anything, not for better or for worse, it does provide us with a safe and efficient manner, very important when we use smartphones that have cost us many euros and we to be shaking his head side to side, placing our phone.

Another advantage is that the lens used, mirrors, etc ... Universe2go internal parts also give a very high quality viewing, the main function of the device, the Universe.

Perhaps worst of Universe2go than the device itself because, as stated above the Universe2go it up 3 parts, a viewer, a software or app and mobile itself. The worst, of course very correctable with subsequent updates of the app, is this the software.

The universe2go may not serve you if your smartphone is too big and does not affect both the diagonal of the screen, a 5.5-inch OnePlus 2 fits perfectly but in thickness. The same OnePlus 2 is not possible.

What I liked most is that we can see the whole universe, in various ways, to the depths of it just to look in the object you want to know more. We have different ways of knowing the space and there is also the possibility of seeing the 88 constellations and the history of their mythology.

The Universe2go application also can be used without the physical device even if you lose much of the functionality of the new device. The application works smoothly and respond well without any delay to the movement of our head or smartphone in the event that we are not using the device.

What we did not like the Universe2go

Like everything in life, Universe2go also has things that we liked, especially focus on the application. The first thing you notice is that the application of Universe2go looks like unfinished, with too rudimentary interface for use even before entering the smartphone in the Universe2go.

Once we have introduced the smartphone in the Universe2go the application interface, you mow to be very simple and not very careful in terms of appearance, it is handled with the movements of the head, original and quite comfortable considering that the smartphone is introduced into the Universe2go.

The application, with all its virtues, especially in the use knowing the universe as I have said, or problems, especially in the interface has a small problem, the calbiraciĆ³n. This application requires a calibration of both the screen and the Universe2go. This calibration understand that it is not easy to carry any smartphone and it works for anyone, but the way it is implemented this calibration do not like too much.

Perhaps the way in which it was planning to use the new Universe2go is not the most comfortable as you need to be with arms raised all the time and to be used as binoculars because although the Universe2Go comes with a strap to carry to the neck. A we would have liked but we had something more like a case or virtual reality goggles.

Conclusions on Universe2Go

We are facing a product if you want to know the universe is the best we have seen in the market as it not only provides the information of the universe as we do other applications but offer an immersive experience leading a small planetarium at home.

The things we liked were more powerful than what we did not like that no longer something more aesthetic than functional, removing yes, the calibration section. Everything else, even the latter calibration are easily remedied with successive application updates.

Ultimately, like any new and innovative product we can find minor faults, regardless of the outcome, once you put "see the sky" is especially spectacular and very educational.
