The A9 Chip Samsung and TSMC not depend iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

Just yesterday came to light the news that the A9 chip Plus 6s 6s and the iPhone has two different suppliers : Samsung and TSMC. At first it was thought that Apple could have split the manufacture of chip depending on the size of the smartphone, but today it has learned that it is not.

Both companies have different technologies to manufacture the new processor Apple, so the A9 chip is slightly different depending on which of the two it is manufactured. Thus, the chip manufactured by TSMC A9 is somewhat larger than does Samsung.

Here we have more details on why Apple has decided to leave in the hands of two different suppliers manufacture the A9 chips that are part of the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and probably also find in the next generation of iPad Air.

A9 chip manufacturing is divided 60/40 between TSMC and Samsung

First, the US company had decided to split production between two A9 chip suppliers to avoid supply problems. Apple simply does not want to be tied to a single vendor, leaving the idea that manufacturing had split completely ruled out depending on the model.

The fact that there are two models of different size smartphone, the iPhone and the iPhone 6s 6s Plus, no influence when it comes to distributing the chips. And it had come to believe that those manufactured by TSMC would assemble iPhone 6s Plus to be slightly larger, whereas Samsung be part of the iPhone 6s.

Note that the actual percentage of manufacturing has been detected indicates that approximately 60% of the A9 chip are manufactured by TSMC, while the remaining 40% comes from Samsung. As both chips can be part of both the iPhone and the 6s 6s Plus, you could say it's a lottery that you touch either, but if you want to know what you can have.

An app shows you which manufacturer made the A9 chip of your iPhone 6s

As explained guys MacRumors , the developer Hiraku Wang has created an application that lets the user know what chip has its iPhone. And I must say that it is having a great success, since the application has been installed and tested by over 2,500 users.

The data collected by this application shows that A9 chip TSMC is more common in the iPhone 6s, while manufactured by Samsung is more present in the iPhone 6s Plus.
