Samsung Beats Apple as a manufacturer of Smartphones

According to the latest data released by research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung has managed to overtake Apple and regained the position of largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world during the first quarter of 2015. Samsung returns to the first position of the smartphone market by sales achieved during the first three months of the year with a 24% share, up from Apple.

The South Korean company is working hard to improve their economic situation and looks on track. Without going any further, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was chosen as the best device of MWC , which was introduced last March.

According to data provided by Strategy Analytics, Samsung achieved a 24% share of the smartphone market with 83.2 million units sold worldwide in the first quarter of 2015. In this way, Samsung has again become the biggest smartphone maker in the world, above Apple, which until now held the throne.

Samsung beats Apple becomes the largest manufacturer of smartphones

If you look at the figures from the same period last year we see how Samsung has lost a few points of market share, from 31 to 24%, but still manages to overtake Apple. The Apple company gets a share 17.7% of the market with 61.2 million units sold during the first quarter of 2015.

However, unlike Samsung, Apple itself has experienced an increase in market share versus the same period last year, which got 15.3%. But when compared with the fourth quarter of 2014, Apple has lost a couple of tenths of a market share of smartphones.

Neil Mawston, executive director of Strategy Analytics, said: "Samsung continues to face several challenges in Asia and elsewhere, but its overall performance has stabilized enough this quarter to overtake Apple and retrieve the first position as the largest seller smartphones the world by volume. " Thus, the positions they occupied the previous quarter, when Apple was in first position is reversed.

According to another research published last month by research firm Gartner, the success and popularity of the iPhone 6 were of great help when Apple overtake Samsung and become the largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world.

Samsung expects record sales of new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

This research from Strategy Analytics again make clear that the battle to be the largest manufacturer of smartphones remains in the hands of Samsung and Apple. The market share of other manufacturers listed in the chart is well below that of the two companies and are far from being able to fight for first place.

From MacRumors points out that the research data published by Strategy Analytics does not include sales of new S6 and S6 Edge Galaxy Samsung, since they did not reach the market until early April. However, Samsung expects record sales they will get for their new flagships over the coming months.

Do you think Samsung will continue along this path and will again be the undisputed leader in the market of smartphones the world over Apple?
