iOS 9 public version is finally released and most of the bugs found earlier in developers version seems to be fixed. Out of all the little bugs the most annoying one was missing personal hotspot. Missing hotspot cannot be literally termed as a bug as it is also dependent on carrier. If you have updated your device with latest iOS 9 public version and still facing the missing personal hotspot option, you can try out methods given below to resolve the issue.
Before I give you any information, please note that hotspot is a carrier-depende nt feature. If you haven’t opted for personal hotspot in your data plan, the personal hotspot missing is not a bug in your iPhone or iPad. But if you have subscribed for personal hotspot, and still it doesn’t appear in your Cellular settings, then you can follow the below-mentioned process to fix the issue.
How to Fix Personal Hotspot Missing in iOS 9
Step #1. Open Settings → Tap on Cellular
Step #2. Now tap on Cellular Data Network
Step #4. Scroll down to the Personal Hotspot section
Step #5. In the APN field, enter the same APN that’s listed under Cellular Data
You can ask respective APN to your service provider or simply search in Google “Your Service Provider Name” + APN.
In some cases, you may have to skip the APN and just enter some name in the username field below it.
Go back to Settings and you should now see Personal Hotspot.
(Alternatively, quit the Settings app and then reboot your iPhone/iPad. Then check the Settings.)
Sometimes, this might not work. In that case, there are three options that you can resort to:
#1. Reboot – Hold the power and home button till screen goes blank; then press the power button to start the iPhone
#2. Reset network settings – Settings → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings → Enter Passcode to confirm
#3. Reset all settings – Settings → General → Reset → Reset All Settings → Enter Passcode to confirm
#4. Restore your iDevice (via iTunes.)
Note: The term Cellular Data may not be used by some mobile carriers; instead Mobileis mentioned on the Settings. Moreover, you may not see Cellular Data Network on the screen of Cellular (Mobile) as there are a few mobile service operators who completely avoid this option.
Also note that personal hotspot shows up only when Cellular Data is switched on. In some cases, you might have to try switching on/off 3G/LTE in order to enable Personal Hotspot.
Personal Hotspot going missing is not new. This issue had happened in iOS 7 and iOS 8 too, and you if you are using one of the two OS, you might want to try out solutions from this post.
